The Puerto Rican Legal Defense Fund (PRLDF), which does support some great causes, is now using their resources to support illegal immigration. They're sueing cities that are trying to stop the day labors (illegals), reduce local crime by preventing landords from renting to illegal immigrants, and so forth.
I emailed them (see email below) and they responded by removing their email addresses from their website (www.prldef.org)
Email them and let them know what you think!

Are you helping our country?. I am a naturalized immigrant to the US and believe that immigration is great for the country.
What I do not believe is allowing tens of millions (and maybe more) unskilled, uneducated, and low paid individuals into this country is overall beneficial.
In relatively small amounts, I would not mind, but at the current numbers and with the increasing trend of more illegal immigrants, we need to have some constraints. Allowing large numbers of low-income, low-educated workers into our country is and will degrade our quality of life. It has mine.
The economic cost calculations are fairly simple. The average illegal (and recently become legal) Latino family size is 3.8 or rounding for simplicity, there are two children per family.
It costs on average $8500 per children per year in our public schools. That's $17,000 a year per Latino family. The cost of schooling alone far exceeds the taxes and other cost savings from these individuals - and this is ignoring all the other costs such as free healthcare, increase road construction, welfare, food-stamps, etc.
What has happened is that employers - seeking cost advantages - have gone the path of least resistance. Hire illegal immigrants with reduced pay and reduced benefits. They benefit, but America as a whole pays and then some.
To make my point (and my concerns) I’ll use an analogy. Let’s say employers could get away with not paying their taxes and have little concern of being penalized. Eventually more companies would catch on and to the same. As companies compete for business, pricing of those companies’ services would come down – and they can because they have lower costs – no taxes. We would eventually have a country where no employer pays taxes. If we started enforcing those who are delinquent with their taxes, they would likely say “we can’t afford to pay taxes – we’d all go bankrupt”. And it’s true, since the market has adjusted to this new paradigm.
This is my concern with the ongoing and huge influx of illegal immigration. Take a walk around my once pristine neighborhood. It’s starting to resemble Tijuana . Poor. Littered. Declining quality of overall services. Why? There has been a huge influx of illegal immigrants. They don’t get paid much and they have to live somewhere.
I thought that we as a country are trying to increase wages. Bring families out of poverty. Lead the world with our educated workforce. Instead, we're allowing the exact opposite to happen.
Some of your actions are supporting this trend – promoting others to join the increasing ranks of illegal immigrants flowing into our country.
Since it is illegal. Since the majority of Americans do not support it. Since we do not have a grasp of its affect on our economy, our lives and our children’s lives – it would be prudent to not promote this illegal migration.
Are you sure you’re helping America ? Go out and ask 10 random people that you help illegal immigrants and see how they respond. Fortunately for you, most people are polite. |
