|
|
President Bush has said in the past that the illegals are doing jobs that Americans wont do, well I guess he has never seen " Dirty Jobs " withe Mike Rowe on the discovery channel. It seems to me that many Americans do plenty of dirty jobs to make a living. We dont all ride around in limo's and do nothing for a living and get paid for it like politicians do. Perhaps the President needs to get out more.

Jobs that Americans won't do, just means "Big Business" replacing Americans earning good wages with illegal aliens willing to work for
minimum wages.
In the early 1970's the meat packing plants were unionized and paid the equivalent of (adjusted for inflation) $80,000.00 per year to their workers. These were highly prized jobs for American citizens that did not have the means or ability to attend college. There were long waiting lists of (American citizen) job applicants.
Then non-unioned meat packing plants sprang up in Iowa that employed illegal immigrants at very low wages. Because of lower labor costs, the unionized meat packing plants were literally driven out of business by the plants that employed the illegal aliens. Many thousands of American citizens lost high paying jobs and could not find work for anywhere near the amount of money that they had been making.
The wages in the meat packing industry went from high paying jobs for American citzens, to the proverbal "jobs that Americans don't want" because of the illegal aliens.
Exactly the same thing is happening in the construction industry. The contractors employing illegal aliens at depressed wages, underbid the contractors that pay good union wages. As the unionized contractors go out of business, more Americans loose good paying jobs. The construction industry is being converted from high paying jobs for American citizens into jobs with such depressed wages that only illegal aliens.
Ten States in the USA have passed laws giving illegal aliens resident
(taxpayer subsidized) college tuition. American citizens can't get this benefit if they reside in another state but it is given to illegal aliens who are citizens of foreign countries. When the illegal aliens complete their US taxpayer subsidized college eduction, they will be able to displace American college graduates from their jobs, just as the illegal aliens are displacing American workers from their jobs in construction, etc.
There is no such thing as a job that an American won't do. Its just a matter of unfair competition from illegal aliens that are willing to work in the USA illegally for at very depressed wage levels. If the illegal aliens were deported, meat packing plants, construction, etc. would return to paying good wages and Americans would fill those jobs and earn a good living. |
