Units of Native Americans who’ve been tracking drug smugglers on the border are getting a new assignment. Based on the Tohono O’Odham reservation along Arizona’s border with Mexico, these trackers, the Shadow Wolves are assigned to track drug smugglers.
Now the Department of Homeland Security wants them to be part of immigration and customs enforcement. The new assignment came about because lawmakers complained that Homeland Security was not using the Shadow Wolves unit effectively.
