The principal of Forest Park High School has apologized to more than 400 parents and students for remarks she made to Hispanic students.
Delphia Young made the apology Thursday night and admitted that she used profanity Nov. 2 after calling ninth and 10th-grade Hispanic students to the cafeteria for a meeting. She said she was angry and also told them she might call in immigration officials.
Young — in her second year as principal of the high school — said her intentions were not to threaten the students but to let them know that violence was a problem at the school.
She told the parents and students her actions were "totally inappropriate," and asked that they forgive her.
School officials have said there had been an off-campus fight and Young wanted to prevent any behavior problems that might carry over to the school.
About half the audience applauded after Young finished her remarks. Others applauded after one parent suggested she should be fired.
Clayton County School System spokesman Charles White said an investigation is ongoing. He said Assistant School Superintendent Derrick Manning will make a recommendation to Superintendent Barbara Pulliam whether any disciplinary action should be made.

I understand her frustration. But being Hispanic and being illegal aliens, are two different things. |
