If Wal-Mart would take a small cut in profit, it could bring its pay above poverty level. So says the group quoted in the article.

I believe that. And, you know what? I would rather pay a little more at Wal-Mart and be able to buy SOMETHING that was made in America. I remember hearing back months ago that something like 40% of Wal-Mart's employees were getting some sort of government assistance. I think it was Medicaid. That is a travesty.

Not only were they getting government assistance, but Wal-Mart was helping them with the paper work. Rolling Eyes

Surely you jest??? This is UNBELIEVABLE. I swear--if there was ANY choice in my town, I would never put foot in Wal-Mart again. Talk about GREED. They win the prize.

Thats the problem. In many if not most towns in America, Wal-Mart is the only game in town. They drove out the little mom and pops, then broke the other departments stores. Now its just them.

That's the way it is in my small town too. We used to have a K-Mart but they even had to shut down. Most small towns seem to be withering away.

I do most of my shopping online when possible. When I do step foot in a Wal-Mart I search long and hard for the Made in USA label on any product that I intend on buying. Sometimes Im successful, somtimes not but at least I gave my best shot.

It been about quite some time since I last was in a Wal-Mart. When I did it was early in the morning, because that's was the best time to go. Parking lots and stores are not crowded with everyone and their entire family and kids running all over the place. Whenever cheap quick shopping is called for, head I head straight for Target and don't even consider Wal-Mart.

They have really sewed up loose ends once they started building in very small communities like the one I live in. Most would never even build a taco bell in a town of 6 or 7,000 in population. Walmart built us a super store here last fall. They gave jobs to a large number of unemployed around here. But, it is slave labor wages.
