Authorities have arrested three people in connection with a cockfighting ring in Santa Barbara County, the area's second cockfighting bust in just over a month.

Pai Chang, 55, Richard Chang Yang, 45, and Xue Vang, 36, were arrested for investigation of possessing fighting roosters and cockfighting paraphernalia after a three-week investigation, said sheriff's Sgt. Martin Eberling.

In May, a man was arrested in the Lompoc Valley when police found a cockfighting ring and about 150 roosters, some of them mutilated.

During cockfights, the roosters typically fight to the death as gamblers who have bet on the outcome watch and root for their favorite.

Evil or Very Mad Its pretty sick to watch animals killed, while people are placing bets, and acting like its a harmless sport!

Thrills more farm livestock in the city! More barbaric practices from the "old world culture"!

Here in Texas it is legal to raise fighting *...but it is NOT legal to fight them. Go figure. However, they can arrest hundreds of gamers every weekend and often do, confiscating the roosters. Doesn't deter them in the least. The fines are too low.

My daughter and her family live outside the city limits. They are surrounded by Mexcans. Said Mexicans raise fighting * and fighting dogs. The noise from these constantly crowing * is nerve shattering. She calls the sheriff's department and is told there is nothing they can do about it..raising them is legal.

We are so fortunate to be rather isolated from neighbors. Wonderfully quiet here and my daughter seeks refuge here when she gets a chance.

This is one of the most CRUEL forms of "entertainment" I have ever heard of. It should be banned EVERYWHERE. How could ANYONE do that to an innocent animal. This makes my blood boil.
