Humans are responsible for the disastrous condition that the Earth is in. However, a controlled decrease in global population is a viable option that would bring well-needed relief to both the planet and to the human race.
Many people's intuitive doubts about this proposition is based on the belief that we will somehow miraculously find another way to save the planet from collapse in the very last minute; a belief that is overly optimistic at the least.
To limit global child-births to one child per couple would in roughly 50 years reduce the human population to half of today's, while infrastructure would be kept relatively intact and our accumulated knowledge and culture remain unchanged!

Its a crazy idea. I have a God given right to have as many kids as I want. No government should tell its people how many kids to have.
Just look at Communist China, they have a one child policy and parents routinely leave the females to die so they can have another chance at having a male child. Plus as a bonus the Government forces abortion on those who already have a child. Because of that policy millions of men in China do not even have a woman to marry.
Thats not the world I want to live in.
Thank God for the Second Amendment.

Indeed you have a right to have children - God-given or not. However, as it is increasingly clear that the immense global population proposes a major threat to Earth's ecosystems, one wonders what could be done to decrease our environmental impact on the planet. It seems to me that although a decrease in global population number is hard to pull off in practice, it could be wished for in the long term. I want to hear people's opinions about this.
And by the way, what does the Second Amendment have to do with anything? |
