Need to assimilate

Editor: I am incensed by the article by Robert Cooper about the Hispanic problem in our county and in our country. I've had a belly full of their excuses about how they can't learn English or they can't assimilate. If they are as dumb as they seem to think they are, they need to pack their bags and go back from whence they came. All we need here is more dumb people who refuse to take responsibility for their actions. We have enough of those who are legal citizens. Let's not make it any easier for those types of people to come to our county.
He talks about holding monthly discussions on Latino issues. They don't need to worry about Latino issues if they are planning to stay in the United States. They need to worry about how best they can master our language and our culture.
As long as we have people like Mr. (Ben) Ross, Father (Al) Gondek and Mariel Gómez de la Torre defending their actions, they have no need to assimilate. It's just going to be handed to them on a silver platter in their own language at our expense. I am frankly tired of seeing my tax dollars going to provide every service under the sun in Spanish.
Check the jails and see what percentage of the population is represented by Hispanics as opposed to the total population of our county. I imagine you will find a disproportionate number of the inmates are Hispanic. Check the emergency room at our hospitals and you will find the same dilemma. Law enforcement's hands are tied because ICE won't even bother to come pick up illegals unless they have a large number, so they get turned loose back into our communities. We have a growing gang problem, and where do you think those gang members are coming from? Hardly a day goes by that the sheriff's office doesn't arrest some Hispanic on I-85 carrying drugs. Where do you think those drugs are going? They darn sure aren't going back to Mexico.
There is only one place that I willingly would see my taxes spent, and that is ESL classes and health clinics set up strategically all along the border. Every illegal that crossed that border would first stop at the health clinics to make sure they were disease free and not pregnant with yet another anchor baby for us to support. Then they would move next door to the ESL class where they would learn to adequately communicate in English. Then, and only then, they are welcome to take any jobs that Americans won't take.
I would like to see every business that hires an illegal fined to the hilt. It wouldn't take long at that rate to reduce the population by attrition. And, those employers can take the money that they would save from paying those fines and pay their employers the wages they deserve.

Way to go, Bootsie! That's a great letter and every word of it says exactly what I and alot of others are feeling! Yes, we are fed up with their excuses and we don't need any more of those people entering our country illegally.

Thanks, Dream. And, that's exactly how I feel. So, if you don't hear anything from me for a few days, you better come to my town to check it out. I might get hung if I get caught on the streets! Well, not that I walk the STREETS or anything like that but you get my drift!
