I think that becoming Americanized should be an important part of becoming a U.S. citizen. Any person wishing to immigrate to this nation should be educated in our culture, our language, our laws and our history.

I think this is why so many immigrants illegal or otherwise have such a hard time assimilating into our society.

If a person comes to America from a country that has lots of corruption and lawlessnes that is tolerated or ignored, then bringing that mindset to a country that is based on law and order is going to cause problems.

Another example is immigrants from middle eastern nations that dont treat women with the same respect as we do here in the United States. When they come here they need to be educated in the way Americans treat women . This is not the way http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_4812374,00.html . I fear that the country this man is originally from would have done little to investigate the allegations that have been made simply because the crime was commited against a women.

When people come across our borders unchecked its a sure sign that they have no intention of honoring our laws or assimilating into our culture. I believe that a big part of the outrage at illegal immigration, aside from the Homeland security aspect, is that it is a clash of cultures. Teaching someone how to act while living in America could go a long way in reducing the clash.

Becoming Americanized should not be looked down upon by those who wish to become citizens. It should be embraced by them, like so many immigrants have done in the past.

This process should also be applied to people who come here on work visas. They should know how they are expected to act before they get here to work.

The United States Of America is the greatest country on earth for a reason. We dont do things here like the rest of the world. Why? Because for the most part what the rest of the world is doing doesnt work.

Then you take all that and add 3rd world diseases to these unchecked illegal's! There are diseases starting to spread across the USA that American's do not even know about unless they or their loved ones come down with it. Several with no cures. And another area being carefully hidden and downplayed to us.
