Please stay on topic. Posting the same article on different posts will definitely get one of them deleted. Also I have noticed that its getting popular to try and beat the word filter thats built into this messageboard. I filter profanity for a reason. I do not want it on this board. If you try and beat the filter I will edit your post.

I try to moderate this board with a light hand, but if I feel its getting out of control that might change.

I also would like all involved to keep your posts civil. There is no reason that people on opposing sides of an issue can't discuss things rationally. Continually adding rude comments and telling people to get lost doesnt add a thing to the conversation.

Also no one should interpret my opposition to illegal immigration as a hatred of latino's or anyone else. I hate no one based on their ethnicity. If you come to this country the right way you will be welcomed with open arms. If you come illegally then you need to be deported.

I am not unsympythetic to the poor of Mexico. I just dont believe that America can or should absorb the third world. It will only degrade the quality of life for our own people that so many before us sacrificed to create.

I havn't been around much because I have been working on something but I do pop in from time to time to keep an eye on things. I should be around more when Im done.

I was beginning to think that I was the only one missing something here.
I read the post, Patriot, but have NO IDEA what you are referring to. I have to agree with Dream that it gets a little boring to have to keep responding to someone who we KNOW is completely on the opposite side of the issue that we happen to be discussing. Debate is one thing and there IS a PLACE for it but it doesn't seem that it should be on a site where the entire membership, except for one person, is OPPOSED to ILLEGAL immigration.

We have one latina troll here who continually baits and states profoundly pro illegal things -- this is insulting and frankly I will flame back when this happens - however I have a lot of energy and intelligence and I dont need this board.
this isnt the Ladies tea society- and tiptoing and being very nice all the time is impossible-
Interesting intelligent people have words with one another-
I have found google groups to have a certain wild freedom that I cannot live without- yes there are trolls and people say awful things but I love not having to watch everything and not have a Parent figure on board-
believe me I have been constrained compared to what I would like to say.

The on topic part and posting duplicate articles kind of go together. Posting an off topic article in the middle of a conversation makes one wonder why it was posted. Maybe it was not noticed because I deleted the post I was talking about. But its not that big of deal, it just makes my life easier.

OK so maybe its not popular, but there have been occasions that people have typed words with astericks in them to stop the filter from displaying this * . So I guess I just said that so it would not become popular.

Also as the admin for this site I try to gauge how this site is recieved, not just by members but also by people who are just lurking. I never want to be seen as a site that hates people or that runs people off. The flip side of that is that I dont want to be a patsy either. So I guess I just said some things so that its known how I feel. Its not necessarily a rebuke or directed at any person in particular.

I suppose rude can be in the eye of the beholder but a call for civility is not unreasonable. I actually believe its possible. And if Im wrong about that Ill never admit it Very Happy

I guess the post was more of a downer than I intended it to be. But I would rather mention these points before it got out of hand rather than after. I hope you can understand.

As far as iamme goes, yeah she is a troll and is the only one here who is sympathetic to the illegals. But I think that she keeps things interesting. The members that have took time to answer her at length have done an excelent job. If she annoys you then dont answer her. No big deal.

I do want to thank everyone for their input on this board. It is appreciated.

as to the asterick thing- with swear words - even the seller soapbox on amazon dot com allows astericks-

I admit when I finally read her posts I was outraged , and responded- but Most everone here would like her gone and are not talking to her any longer. the only exception is tweety who has a thing to trolls- perhaps Ramon roadkill should come over- my main objection to these kinds of trolls is they like to engage people so they are not doing activist work-

gringogirl, as you can see you and I agree on illegal immigration. Perhaps you just don't understand where I am coming from. Myself and other anti-illegals were banned from a couple of forums because the majority were pro-illegals, just for speaking our minds. I guess that is what makes me want everyone to have freedom of speech as long as they are civil. I can't be a hypocrite that way.

I like forums where there are opposing views. It makes for lively debate and is not boring. If all Americans share their views together and work together, hopefully we will have a better country. I have even managed to make some see the light. That is the ultimate reward for me, to turn a troll into a patriot. Doesn't always work but hey that brass ring never was easy to reach anyway.

Well as I have said before, I don't find Iamme's trolling interesting or stimulating. I won't remain pc and polite while she insults our culture and American way of life. And if ignoring her were possible it would have suceeded over the several attempts everyone here has made. However when ignored she then jumps into the threads you have moved onto, or says something inflamatory and insulting to get that attention back. So she is aloud to remain, and in doing so she gets what she asks for, negative, and sometimes hostile reply's. It is hard to be civil with anyone who is getting $200 + in food stamps , $50 + a month in WIC, and takes trips to other countries while we pay for her and her child. While her illegal husband works and applies for free colledge education on the Dream Act. I think we are all past caring about being overly polite and civil to someone we have been dealing with for well over a month now, and has made it clear she comes here to ease her concenious by provoking the gringo.

If she has been offensive to other members why hasn't she been banned? As a moderator I would not tolerate personal insults either.

I see iamme getting everyone angry, keeping your eye off the ball, Her ideas cannot be changed, she wants to engage you to stop you from doing things, discussing real solutions. Why waste your time.Channel that energy towards answers, let her find someone else to distract. I hope I have'nt made anyone angry already and I hope I dont get banned, It has just been my observation of what is going on.

Well I have stated my case and those are my views on this discussion. If trolls like Ramon in alt.politics bother you so much, why do you post in there? Although you may not engage in debate with him, others do and you must be reading them.

I say let everyone debate who wants to debate and if the moderators in here feel someone has abused the rules then let them ban that person.

I don't feel like I am feeding the trolls but trying to point out the truth to them. And as I said, there have been times when I have been able to make them see the light.

Why do we go to rallies then? It is to show the opposition that we are patriotic Americans armed with the truth. The signage we carry and the American flag we carry are our debating tools.
