End Birthright Citizenship
After the Civil War, the 14th Amendment was passed to ensure the rights of newly freed blacks. Many politicians in the South were attempting to twist the law, like by saying that all male citizens could vote…but seeing as how blacks were never considered citizens, it would be a clever loophole used to deny them their rights. So one of the things this amendment did (coupled with the 15th Amendment) was ensure that these racist loopholes could no longer exist by declaring that all people born within the United States would be considered a citizen – birthright citizenship.
Fast forward to today’s time and we have millions of immigrants – legal and illegal – taking advantage of this important amendment by purposely having children inside the US. This is a strain on our already bankrupt system and is an immoral abuse by people trying to take advantage of US freedoms. Since this is an amendment, I feel the only constitutional way to change this is by another amendment. Unfortunately, like with all things, abuse by dishonest people have made it necessary to change a provision that was originally needed. We should no longer guarantee birthright citizenship unless the parents are American citizens or at least legal residents. http://www.WeWantLiberty.com |

RE: End Birthright Citizenship
Having been through the process of legal non-immigration stay, legal immigration and naturalization over a span of 7 years, I agree on this point.
My case: -Strived to obey all laws and limitations with regards to being an international student for several years (i.e. balancing my budget while working 20/hr a week on a minimum wage job on campus while paying tuition, etc.) -Payed lots of money and went through all the processes to obtain permanent residence (and all the anxiety that goes with it). -Even though I qualified for it after getting my green card, I refused to use FAFSA to help pay for the rest of my education. -Payed lots of money again to become a US citizen once the waiting period was up. Their case: 1)Sneak in through the border 2)??? 3)Plop a baby in some ER room (and not pay the medical bill afterwards) 4)GREEEEEEN CARD, CONGRATZ! IN JUST A FEW MONTHS 5)Collect welfare 6)Go back to 2 and repeat indefinitely (skip 4 this time) "Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other." - John Adams |

RE: End Birthright Citizenship
My wife knew some dirtbag that had a kid and then used the kid's social to get credit cards and stuff - basically stole his own kid's identity.
And our government ignores it - or calls us racists for demanding action! http://www.WeWantLiberty.com |

RE: End Birthright Citizenship
I thought you may be interested in a letter I sent to Senator Kit Bond (R-MO) on the almost forgotten issue of immigration and the 14th amendment to the Constitution.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do you believe the 14th Amendment is currently being misinterpreted in a way that unjustly and unconstitutionally gives citizenship to children born in the United States of illegal alien parents? Will you work to restore the founder's intent of "one man, one vote"? Again, I ask, will you "work to restore" the original intent of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution by ensuring that citizens of states with low populations of illegal aliens do not continue to suffer from diluted representation in the US House of Representatives as a result of the counting of non-citizens during the decennial US Census and the subsequent reapportionment that takes place? |

RE: End Birthright Citizenship
it is a waste of time.. to fight for an ammendment...
if.. we dont fight to restore the constitution as law. and to do it.. we must get the Fed.. via the president or congress, to END ALL STATES OF EMERGENCY... ALL OF THEM, and restore the constitutional form of government again... one which doesnt have emergency powers... unless a real emergency happens. if the CP... doesnt focus on this.. then you are all wasting your time. sorry. -MEMAT |

it is never a waist of time to stand for and/or speak the truth. just because you may not change policy does not mean you wont change minds.

RE: End Birthright Citizenship
I agree. The 14th Am. was right in its time and place. I don't think it was ever meant to grant citizenship to every person born on US soil, going forward in perpetuity. No other country does, or has ever done, that. It's insane and moronic.
