“Government is essentially the negation of liberty.” Ludwig von Mises

News from CPMN Chair Tammy Houle
Who Will Join Us on the High Road?

The age old axiom goes - "politics is a dirty business." That seems to be true even for the CPMN. We found out just after the new-year that our web-site had been sabotaged. It had been altered so that when someone contacted us through the web-site an automatic response was generated in reply. The mean-spirited auto-response was degrading and cynical to say the least.

We were compelled to ask why someone would do such a thing and the only logical answer we can come up with is that we must be a threat. But who are we such a threat to that someone would stoop to such a low to make us look bad? The CPMN must be having more of an impact than we ever realized. Consequently, we were forced to launch our new web-site ahead of schedule, before it was completely ready. Many thanks to our new web-master, Joe Byrne, for his generous gift of time and expertise in the call for emergency measures.

We have not wavered from our fidelity to the Constitution and individual liberty. Obviously, in being true to our ideals we have caused others in the political arena to see how far they fall short and it makes them uncomfortable to the point of malice. So even though skeptics think third parties are of no value, it is quite clear that though we are on the road less traveled, we are impacting in more ways than can be seen from the mere surface.

A glaring example of our influence can be seen in the campaign of one of the candidates running for governor in a major party race for endorsement. This candidate has adopted one of our main policy positions even though it is not found in his party's platform. We have always refused to take any state funds for any of our campaigns (even when we had major party status a few years ago), because we believe it is unethical to use money for campaigning that has been taken from the taxpayer's pocket involuntarily. Now that candidate is refusing government campaign funding too. How do we know he got the idea from us? His campaign manager used to be chairman of this party. That is no coincidence, but not many people will make the connection.
So even though some may think the political tide is turning just because a Republican won the senate seat in Massachusetts, the only way things will truly change are through the influence of those outside the "big box" parties. Considering that Scott Brown, the Republican who won in MA, is only more of the same with pro-choice and big government leanings, he was victorious merely because he said he will take Obama Care "back to the drawing board." Bold proclamation! He just wants to allow the other "big box" party to have a shot at government health care. I challenge anyone to name me one unconstitutional government program the DFL has created that the GOP hasn't perpetuated.

Scott Brown's statement @ 5:31 of his acceptance speech: “We're past campaign mode. I think it's important for everyone to get some form of health care. So, to offer a basic plan for everybody, I think is important." There he is, out of campaign mode, back to business as usual in Washington.

There are not many who are willing to step out of the comfort of a large institution to go it on the high road. Thank God, the founding fathers were among those who were not afraid. Will you have the courage to join us on that high road?

Can the Average Person Make a Difference in the General Scheme of Politics? - Harley Swarm CD3 Chair

One of the things I’m asked most often when I’m at fairs or guns shows or events for the party is whether or not the average person can affect any of the seemingly endless arrays of crazy things our elected officials are doing. Average people tell me they don’t believe they are represented and are ignored by their elected officials who they have given up trying to understand.

Well the short answer is YES!!!

In 2006 when John McCain was trying to push another immigration reform bill(i.e. amnesty) through the legislature all the talking heads on TV and the newspaper experts were saying it was a slam dunk that would fly through and be approved in days. But then some of the more vocal grassroots groups and conservative talk show hosts started investigating the bill and its contents and decided that enough was enough. They put out the call for average Americans to call their congressmen and senators and let them know how they felt about the bill. They put the number for the Congressional switchboard out to the public and they responded. So many people called the switchboard that the system crashed. In the time before the system crashed the make-up of the calls was 500 to 1 against the reform bill. This got the attention of the political representatives and the bill died in committee without ever getting to the floor for a vote.

More recently the cap and trade, healthcare, and climate bills were expected to fly through the house and senate in days and be passed before anyone could really know what was in the bills. With a majority in Congress and the Senate this seemed to be another slam dunk for the powers that wanted the legislation. But once again the average person going to town hall meetings, tea parties, and contacting their representatives have slowed down if not killed these actions. Once expected to pass quickly now these bills may not pass at all.

Okay so how does the average person make a difference? First you need to know a few basic things to make it easier to get thinks done quickly. First you need to know who to contact. To do this you need to know these seven things:

• What Congressional District do you live in?
• What State Representative District do you live in?
• Who are your two US Senators?
• Who is your Congressperson?
• Who is your State Representative?
• Who is your State Senator?

Why these seven things? These are the locations you should be concerned about and the people most directly able to respond to your feed back. The Governor and the President only vote on the stuff laid on their desks but they don’t represent you in the process until it gets to their desk.

If you don’t know the answers to the above questions don’t feel alone. At the fairs and gun shows only one in ten can answer even half of the questions. You can however find the answers quickly enough. Go to the MM Secretary of State’s website http://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us/ and you will be able to get the answers.

When you know who to contact, just as important is how to contact them. Most political figures have four ways to contact them. You can write, phone, e-mail, or fax them. What you probably don’t know is that some of these ways are more effective and permanent than others. Let’s take these one at a time.

E-mail is probably the most used now because it is fast and easy. Type your letter and send it on to the person you want. But our elected officers get hundreds if not thousands of these at a time. The same can be said for phone calls to the elected officials. A quick dial of a number and you reach the office to talk to the party you want. The problem with both of these methods is that they leave no permanent record of your contact with the elected official. E-mails can be deleted after being opened and read, if read at all, and phone calling depends on if the elected official is in the office and willing to talk to you. Now something most people don’t realize is that mail sent through the postal system and faxes sent over the phone lines are required by law to be read and saved permanently. One of these two methods is the best way for communicating with any public official. The best thing about letters and faxes that are saved is that the elected official has to produce them for any Freedom of Information Act request thus holding the official accountable to the electorate that has contact with them.

I have found personally that letters are the best way to contact elected officials. Even if the result is just a form letter, I know someone looked at it and responded.

A couple of last items for this month: In my run for Governor I would like to participate in debates, forums, and town hall meetings as much and in as many places as possible so I would appreciate anyone who hears of debates or other candidate forums to contact me so I can try and give my best for the Governor’s race. My website link is: http://www.swarmforgovernor.com and I have an e-mail link from there.

I would also like to send out my thanks to the men who represented Minnesota in the Continental Congress 2009 last November. They spent several weeks in the Congress and they produced a fine body of work in the Articles of Freedom. These gentlemen are: Mark Johnson, Ken Lucier and Lyle C. Daken.

Caucus Call

Today, the two-party system has turned its back on the Constitution and our founding principals. Free people must recognize the great threat the two-party system poses to the future of our nation and state. Many Americans are willing to cede their freedom and liberty; many are easily led into believing they have no alternative. But there is an alternative.

Free people must not continue to facilitate loss of freedom as we see the fruits of our labor disappearing before our very eyes. The problem is that Republicans and Democrats stated purpose is to win elections by any means possible. To do this, they will go any way the wind blows, and at this time the wind is blowing towards expanded federal and state intrusion into our lives. The good news is free people can be Independent voters. It is up to free people to decide their own fate. There is an alternative.

The two major parties spend all their time figuring out ways to take taxpayer money to fund their reelection campaigns and pass unconstitutional laws to lure people to voluntarily surrender their
unalienable rights. And to think that they have been winning elections with this strategy for years and years, it boggles a free mind.

The two-party system has polarized America. If free people join either party they too shall be part of the negative effect of polarization. With all the effort spent on advancing big party agendas, they do not have time to do the people’s business. The two major parties have had decades of time to restore the people's autonomy. We must say, “Time’s up—YOU’RE FIRED!”

Fool us once, shame on you; but fool us for many decades, shame on all the people. We must turn from the culture of corruption, that is, the two-party system. We are engaged in a great civil war, and now is the time for FREE PEOPLE to rise up and establish a new birth of Freedom.

While the Democrats and Republicans are busy bickering with each other, not for America, but for party superiority, all those who desire to take their country back can do so. Free people make up the largest voter block. Now is the TIME to use it! Come to one of the caucuses of the Constitution Party of Minnesota on February 2nd. Get acquainted with other free people who are tired of the status quo and learn about a party that stands for true independence!

Letters to the Editor

Bring on the Lawsuit Over CO2, We Can Handle It
An article, ND Lawsuit likely over MN CO2 Tax (Assoc. Press, Bismarck, ND), warns of a legal fight from North Dakota about the Minnesota tax on CO2 emitted by their coal plants. This power is used by Minnesotans who will pay more for electricity. I think this legal action would be great and be a kick in the pants or a kick out of office for the liberals and dems that passed the Minnesota Cap and Tax Bill. It would also expedite bringing limited government back to Minnesota.

So what about CO2? I thought it was natural on earth. Not long ago in my school days, I learned that ideal combustion would convert all burned material into CO2 so it would not be harmful. Now they say CO2 is toxic. In biology, we learned that your body generates it and has to have it in our blood stream for a proper acid/base balance for biological function. Environmentalists will forever be twisting truths to their perverted objectives. I remember reading a 1976 Popular Science article that explained how nature works to keep the balance of oxygen and CO2. It’s simple. The more CO2 there is - the more vegetation grows to convert that into oxygen; so nature takes care of it. Whenever I travel, I see plants and trees everywhere so I think this is just another scam to tax people, and we just have to say NO. Bring on the lawsuit! Don Koehler - Blaine, MN

Are banks being told to prepare for new currency?
Is it possible this could be the start of the Amero?
It may be so – or perhaps not.
You study and decide for yourselves.

More likely is the complete and total devaluation of our current currency which has lost 95% of its purchasing power since the Federal Reserve began.

In similar fashion to what many other countries have done (North Korea the latest), you will be able to trade perhaps 1000 of your current dollars for a brand new $10 note with the new design. Maybe the Amero will come a little later, but nobody wants worthless Federal Reserve Notes anymore, and many countries are trading them for something else, thus hastening the natural downfall of money that isn’t backed by something of value. The wise person will invest in something that will always have value – specifically, gold and silver.

What does one TRILLION dollars look like?
The graphic example below will give you an idea. If a picture doesn’t cover it for you, consider that if you spend a one dollar bill every second, it will take you more than 30,000 years to spend ONE trillion dollars. Now multiply that 30,000 years by twelve and you’ll just about cover our national debt (360,000 years for 12 trillion). Multiply it by about sixty and you’ll have the unfunded liabilities or bills coming due (1,800,000 years for 60 trillion). Even when we consider this, legislators show absolutely no control over their reckless and irresponsible spending.
