“Those who vote decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.” Attributed to Joseph Stalin

Editorial - What Have We Been Fighting Against?

What have we been fighting against all these years? Socialism? Fascism? Communism? Republicanism? Democratism? It might surprise you to know that all of the above fall under one heading called Collectivism. And what is Collectivism? Consider the following points which will give you an overview:

• National sovereignty is the cause of war and must be replaced by world government.

• Personal property should be eliminated because it leads to selfishness.

• People will not cooperate with each other in freedom so they must be forced by the state.

• Group is more important than individual and the ultimate group is the state.

Can you see how each of the above “isms” strives for and fits into these four points of collectivism? Are you a collectivist or an individualist? Let’s take a closer look at bullet point number two and consider the map (linked below) which shows land the federal government owns.

It’s important to note that this map shows lands owned by the FEDERAL government only. It looks pretty bad for the West and pretty good for those east of the Rockies. But lest you Easterners crow too loudly, don’t forget this map doesn’t show land and property owned and taken by each state, county and city in the nation. Then there’s an increasing push to put much of our country under United Nations control by putting land on the “World Heritage” list. To see what has already been ceded you can visit this site: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list

“But I own my home and my land,” you might say. Well, just don’t pay your property taxes for a little while and see what happens. Before too long you will be given a lesson on what you actually own – very possibly at the point of a gun. Also, if you own something, shouldn’t you be able to do what you please with it? Got any snail-darters on your property? Try changing your terrain. For city or suburban property owners, would you like to drill a well on your property in case of emergency or make any other changes or additions? First you’ll have to get a permit, which means the government will “permit” or allow you do something with the property you think you own. Or maybe they won’t “permit” whatever you’d like to do.

We’re not just fighting Republicans and Democrats. Both of these parties believe the same things the Communists, Socialists and Fascists believe (the state should be in charge of everything – including you). The only difference between them all appears to be the method of achieving the goals. Some will kill millions to get what they want right now, and others will get what they want through gradualism – some more gradual than others, but the end is the same – slavery. We should be fighting collectivism in all of its manifestations.

Consider what we think we own along with the information above. Maybe we’re not as free as we think. This should give us even more reason to educate the public and get the Constitution Party in front of them. The Constitution this party lives by was written by individualists who understood that private property ownership was a big part of liberty and freedom.

CPMN Hosts Constitution Party National Committee Meeting!

The spring 2010 National Committee Meeting of the Constitution Party will be held Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1, at the Embassy Suites Minneapolis Airport Hotel, 7901 34th Ave S, Bloomington, MN.

The CPMN is privileged and honored to be the host for the National Committee meeting. The last time we were host was in 2001. Participating in the Constitution Party’s national business meetings provides new energy and life to every leader who attends, and we all need the benefit of some fresh ideas and renewed training!

The meeting will start after lunch, Friday, May 30, no earlier than 1:00 p.m. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. There will be a banquet Friday evening. Then the meeting will reconvene on Saturday morning, May 1, at 8:30 a.m. On Saturday, former Texas Congressman Steve Stockman will give us the benefit of his extensive experience in six hours of intensive campaign and fundraising training. Every candidate and potential candidate should be at this meeting. The scheduled activities for the weekend will conclude by 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Registration is set at $165 for those whose registration is postmarked on or before April 7, $180 for those whose registration is postmarked after April 7 and before April 23, and $200 if postmarked after April 22 or paid at the door, and meals cannot be guaranteed for these late registrations. Registration for students 12 and over is $105. Children under 12 are welcome to attend free of charge, but no meals are included. Registration for the Friday night banquet only is $50, and for Saturday only is $45 with lunch included. Please help us by registering early!

There are two ways to make your sleeping room reservations – by calling 1-800-EMBASSY or online http://www.embassymspairport.com with the group code “TCP.” If calling, be sure to say that you are with the Constitution Party in order to get our special rate of $109 plus tax for singles and $129 plus tax for doubles. All rooms are suites so even singles have a fold-out couch in the living room area. By staying at the Embassy Suites, you are not only right on location but also help to keep down the overall cost of the meeting and the registration price.

The cut-off date for this price is April 7, 2010, so don’t wait! Make those reservations right away. After this date the group rate and rooms will not be available.

The National Committee, made up of qualified representatives of the state affiliates, is responsible for conducting the business of the party between conventions. It is vitally important to the future of the party that representatives from our state affiliate make every effort to be present at this National Committee Meeting.

Heard of the “Donkephant?”

The donkephant: A hybrid species which often undergoes the most curious changes during election season. Typically, it will shed characteristics of one of its parents in order to look more attractive to its prey, dumb sheep. This is not to say that it loses its ambiguous nature, for when confronted by hard questions, it will often camouflage itself in a mound of rhetoric and empty answers. Once elected, it will resume its dual nature, often to the destruction of its native habitat, America.

Letters to the Editor

A Rally for National Health Care Reform

"Organizing for America" hosted a rally for Public Option National Health Care (Obama Care) with Senator Franken on Sunday, February 21, at the Minneapolis United Labor Center at Central and University Avenues. I learned of it from Twila Brase and the CCHC and was also told that the Tea Party promoted it. Lois and I met on the sidewalk with about 30-40 people also carrying signs, most of whom were opposed to national health care, but a few carried signs in favor. There were some friendly debates on the sidewalk and many favorable horn honkers going by, but a few gave us unfavorable comments and gestures. Barbara Davis White, former IR candidate for House US District 5 was driving by and gave us quite a show of support as you might well expect. I ventured inside hoping to have a say for the free market solution but saw I was greatly outnumbered. There may have been over 200 in the room with a speaker on deck speaking in favor, of course, and singing praises for the senator.

Many think the issue is dead, but don't be fooled, the DFL is attempting to procedurally force Obama Care on us in whatever way they can. They will not rest and it's up to conservatives and constitutionalists to put forth freedom's alternative legislation, but it was encouraging to see many others who felt as we did. Keep telling your representatives NO Obama Care. - Don Koehler - Blaine, MN

Quote

"Everyday I run into people who were once Republicans but are now disgusted by how the GOP has betrayed the American heritage of freedom. I trust this disgust will become even more widespread and that it will generate support for an alternative party, one that is serious about a return to small, decentralized government and about opposing the tyranny of political correctness. Needless to say, I don’t expect the Republican leadership to help forge such a party. They are the opposition that would have to be dealt with if such an alternative can prevail." Now that you’ve read the information above about how much property in America is owned by the government, take a look at this. It will give you an idea of what’s going on around the world.

More evidence that the Constitution of the United States means nothing to the current cabal of legislators who swear to defend and uphold it. Either they’re ignorant of what is in the Constitution or they knowingly violate their oath of office. Ignorance or treason – which of these two things qualifies them for public office? http://townhall.com/columnists/WalterEWi...l_contempt

Would you like an opportunity to tell your state legislators how they should run government and save money? Here it is! The Minnesota House’s Redesign Project has been put online and you may send them your ideas. Perhaps this is an opportunity to teach them about Constitutional government or liberty with your suggestions. Perhaps some of the remedial actions from the Articles of Freedom (see details in the January newsletter) could be entered on this site. http://www.house.mn/redesign/

Folks, this “Consideration of Federal Mandates” bill has teeth!! Please push this in your spheres of influence and thank the chief sponsor, Tom Emmer, and the co-sponsors. Let’s see if we can get a companion bill in the Senate. This is a biggie folks!! Click this link and you’ll find contact information for House and Senate members at the bottom of the page.
