Scott Brown - Happy Days Are Here Again???
Some reality from Steve Deace about the Scott Brown election.
Bill Lussenheide - Candidate US Congress CA-45 http://www.FaithFamilyFreedoms.blogspot.com WHO-Radio Des Moines January 10, 2010 Steve Deace If you're a frequent listener to my show you know the war between grassroots conservatives and the Republican Party Establishment continues with no end in sight, although a temporary detente appears to have been reached in the People's Republic of Massachusetts of all places. The U.S. Senate race there has brought large portions of both sides together with one common goal -- the chance to end the Democrats' flibuster proof majority. Would this actually put a stop to Obamacare as Barney Frank predicted? I have my doubts the Democrats would allow the train to be stopped after its already left the station. However, the election of Massachusetts State Senator (and former nude model) Scott Brown could very well put an end to future government power-grabs like, say, cap-and-trade for example. But is the well-spoken and easy-on-the-eyes Brown a true champion of this alleged conservative revolt against the Left? The straight answer is no, and not by a long-shot. For example, as a state senator he voted for the RomneyCare bill in Massachusetts that is the forerunner to the Obamacare being debated in the Congress as we speak. A big government boondoggle that has been routinely trashed by most experts and conservatives as a complete and total disaster for the commonwealth, and it doesn't poll well with the people of Massachusetts to boot. So here we have a guy who once voted for a big government takeover of healthcare that subsidized abortions now running as someone opposed to big government healthcare that will subsidize abortions. Hey, it's Massachusetts, where flip-flopping politicians grow like weeds. What did you expect? Speaking of abortion, Brown has a 50% rating from NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League). He does say he's against partial birth abortion and thinks there's too many abortions, but he describes himself as "pro-choice" (or pro-murder) and at best will just regulate the abortion mills so that babies are killed slighty infrequently and perhaps more hygenically than they previously were. Brown is also soft on sodomy and accepts homosexuals marrying in Massachusetts as the law of the land, and even told the Boston Globe he would've voted to confirm Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court -- the only judicial appointee that Charles Grassley has ever voted against because even the mild-mannered Chuck Wagon couldn't stomach her worldview. Yet these facts haven't stopped Massachusetts Tea Partiers from rallying to his side, nor has it stopped several "pro-life" groups and activists from filling my email inbox the past two weeks with urgent pleas to support Brown's senate bid. The result of a Brown win today, which I think will happen, will likely have two outcomes. One I desire and the other I don't. First, it's hard not to grin down your chest at the fact the first public referendum on the Soetoro-Reid-Pelosi triumverate will result in a loss of Ted Kennedy's seat. The irony of that, considering the Democrats shamelessly turned Kennedy's funeral into a rally for big government healthcare on national television, is tough not to appreciate. On the other hand, a Republican Party Establishment cynically bound and determined to rout its own base, even at the risk of permanently driving them away, will likely be further encouraged to run more potential RINOs like Scott Brown. Whatever euphoria Tea Partiers and right-wingers looking the other way on Brown's beliefs might feel the morning after sticking it to the Left is likely going to evaporate within a few years after Brown is seated in the U.S. Senate. That's when they'll realize they've probably just seated another Trojan Horse in their own caucus who has much more in common with John McCain than he does John Thune. Yet that's how we roll nowadays. This is America after all. Land of pragmatism and instant gratification, home of regretting it afterwards when the bill has to be paid. |

RE: Scott Brown - Happy Days Are Here Again???
I appreciate the point, Bill. I am from MA and after much soul searching, I went to the polls, held my nose, and voted for Scott Brown. My wife refused to vote.
Had there been a Constitution Party candidate, we both would have vote for for him, no matter how much of a "long shot" he might have been. The 3rd candidate, Joe Kennedy (no relation to Chappaquiddick Ted), was a Libertarian, whose position on every issue I saw was no different than Brown's. Unlike my wife, I felt I had to vote for the lesser of the 2 evils (in this case 3), since no committed constitutionalist was running. I could not sit and do nothing and let Martha Coakley get elected. And you must remember, this is after all, Massachusetts. Okay. I can't believe I missed this: http://www.cosmopolitan.com/celebrity/ne...e-in-cosmo I think I should have stayed home with my wife yesterday. Bob God - Family - Republic |

What I am noticing is it becomes a "Hold your nose and vote" issue no matter who is offered up. If Robert Kennedy Jr. had run I would have voted for him. He is after all saying many things that need to be said but it is not the mainline media that supports what Bobby Jr. is saying. Imagine a Kennedy being ignored by the media! We are just not given any choice anymore. We either vote for rotted possum or skunk. We should stop holding our nose and start wading into the cesspool ourselves. We are being forced to either live with the stench or clean house. If we choose to live with the stench, then we deserve the choices we settle for. |
