Chair’s Comments—An Evening to Remember
By Tammy Houle, CPMN State party Chair

It was a warm September evening when leadership from the Libertarian Party, the Constitution Party and five Ron Paul Republicans met at a Minnetonka restaurant to strategize about restoring Constitutional government in Minnesota. At least that was the perceived purpose for the meeting. Wayne Zimmerschied, vice-chairman of the CPMN and I, were on hand to represent our party. Because it was assumed that all in attendance were of a like-mind, dedicated to a renewal of liberty, albeit by different means, we were happy to sit down with this distinguished group of patriots.

After introductions were made around the table and food was ordered, the discussion got underway. However, it didn't start at a place we expected. The Republicans at the table proceeded with an attempt to convince those of us from the LP and CP that our only hope and best strategy was to channel our candidates into the GOP and have them run as Republicans. They tried to convince us that running a candidate outside the major two parties is simply wasted effort.

We sat quietly as they went on at length about this viewpoint. When an opening came for a chance to contribute to the dialogue, I had a question for these GOP advocates for which I wanted a straight answer. The question went like this: "If you have a really good liberty candidate seeking the endorsement of the GOP in a given race against a insider party hack (didn't matter which race), and your candidate failed to get the endorsement, what will be your plan B. Would you continue to support that liberty candidate in spite of them not getting the endorsement and therefore, go against the party hierarchy? Would you back that liberty candidate with a primary run against the endorsed candidate?"

Now remember, these were Ron Paul C4L Republicans sitting at the table with us. What do you think the answer was?

To our disillusionment, disappointment and disgust, they first tried to avoid answering the question, but when pushed for an answer, the one with the highest rank in the GOP admitted that they would get behind the party endorsed candidate and a primary run was not even an option to be considered. We were dumbfounded, (though we didn't show it outwardly at the time)! What happened to standing for principle? Were these the same people who have been trying to convince us that the GOP could/can be rectified? How in the world will going-along to get-along change anything in that corrupt party? That's just more of the same party politics that has driven so many from that cesspool of compromise.

Our hope in participating in this meeting was to find out what areas of the state the Ron Paul folks would have a good GOP candidate running or the LP would have a good candidate running, so we didn't put up a CP candidate to run in the same race and take votes away from those other
liberty candidates. After all was said and done, at the close of this
meeting, the LP and the CP were on working terms, but CP and the Ron Paul folks were not on the same page, maybe not even in the same play book. So much for building a coalition for the advancement of liberty.

Treasurer’s Comments
By Patricia Becker, State Party treasurer

Many thanks to those who organized the state fair booth, brought candy to pass out to the kids, donated prizes for the drawings, donated business cards, and spent time manning the booths. The response from fair go-ers was excellent, and invigorating. Our presence at the fair was not free, however. We need an influx of capital so that we can keep the momentum of the fair going.

We have a volunteer who will be updating our website over the next month or so. One of the features of the update will be enabling you to join the party directly from our web site. Until then, you can give donations on-line through Paypal at http://www.cpmn.org, or send a donation to me at CPMN, 23078 21st Ave, St Augusta MN 56301.

Here is a youtube link from our sister party, the Constitution Party of MO, which we'd like you to see, How Much is Your Liberty Worth?
Won't you take two minutes to watch it and consider how you can help the CPMN?

Candidates Stepping Forward
By Tammy Houle, State Party Chair

Tremendous thanks goes out to the folks who have responded to the CPMN newsletter article calling for patriots, liberty lovers and freedom fighters to step forward and consider running for office under the banner of the Constitution Party of Minnesota. The response has been overwhelming and we are looking forward to the year ahead in anticipation of taking on the establishment in so many races.

Harley Swarm, last year's CPMN write-in candidate for Congress in the 3rd district, has indicated that he will be seeking our endorsement next spring at our endorsing convention for the gubernatorial race. Richard Burton, from the Brainerd/Baxter area has said that he is running against Oberstar (Overspender as Mr. Burton calls him) in the 8th congressional district and will be seeking our endorsement.

Others who had communicated to us that they would be willing to run as Constitution Party candidates in the next election include Bill from the Eden Prairie area, Tommy in Ostrander, Tim from Glenwood, Scotty from Burnsville. If you know these gentlemen, shake their hands and encourage them in their courageous convictions. We look forward to meeting with each and everyone in the weeks ahead to get acquainted and determine the best race for them to focus their campaigns.

Ship building is not an easy job, but we must be fixed on providing the Constitutional rescue vessel for the increasing number of people, who have had enough of the same old GOP and DFL candidates taking our country in the same dreadful direction, and are ready to leap overboard. That's not to mention being the place for the large number of people out there who have never had anything to do with either major party, yet know that the country must be turned around soon before all our freedoms taken away.

There is still time to search your heart and see if you are also being led to put your name on the ballot and run to win this state and this nation back to the legacy our founders envisioned and left for us. Contact us if you are interested in chatting about the possibility!

Greetings To All State Fair Goers!
By Tammy Houle, State Party Chair

We'd like to welcome each and every person who stopped by the CPMN State Fair booth on the second floor of the grandstand building this year! Our booth has never seen as much business as this year. It was phenomenal the amount of traffic that stopped by our booth and the number of people who signed up to receive our newsletter. We ran out of Constitutions, balloons and other materials early on. Obviously, more people are open to connecting with a party outside of the major two than ever before. But that is so understandable, as we watch more and more of our liberties being swept away with hardly a person to stand in the gap at the state and federal level.

As Army veteran Michael Gaddy says on LewRockwell.com, "The paradigm of Republican (right) versus Democrat (left) politics in America has led this country to the calamity of total socialism and the loss of individual rights. Since I have been of voting age, this has been the scenario. Nixon had to be elected to free us from the tragedy that was the Vietnam War; Jimmy Carter was elected to free America from the debacle that was Watergate; Reagan was elected to free the nation from the indecisiveness and economic blunders of the Carter Administration; Clinton was elected to change the economic policies of Reagan and George the First; George W. Bush was elected to bring us back from the nausea of Clinton’s constant and overwhelming personal issues; Obama was elected to stop the illegal wars and the infringements on personal freedoms, the very core of the Bush Administration. Tragic is it not that each and every political savior has led us deeper and deeper into the abyss? Obama is no different. Voting for the lesser of two evils has brought us the promised product: evil."

Here is a very telling article from the Rasmussen Reports:

For those of you that are new, we celebrate having you aboard and hope you will find kindred spirits here. Don't hesitate contacting anyone of us veterans to find out how you can help promote this party of principle and our candidates in the months ahead.

The Dollar is in Danger

It is estimated that China owns around one-third of all U.S. debt. If and when China dumps the U.S. dollar, there would be nothing left to stabilize it, and Weimar Republic/Zimbabwe-style inflation will ensue. America will be thrust into financial chaos. (If one doubts that China is planning to dump the dollar, consider that China is currently purchasing and stockpiling gold at an unprecedented level. This is why gold has suddenly surged to over $1,000 per ounce and why it will continue to rise.) Chuck Baldwin, 2008 Constitution Party Presidential Candidate
