They need help in Delaware
Please read this email to the end. I know it is long but EXTREAMLY important. Let me know if you can attend the Convention on July 30th at Bogey’s in Middletown.
Bogey’s 631 Bayview Road Middletown, DE 19709-9627 (302) 449-1952 As a Constitution Party of Delaware Member and / or Friend, I make an urgent appeal for your help to keep the party alive as a strong voice for the restoration of Constitutional Principles and Values in the State of Delaware. As many of you know, the career politicians, major party elites and complicit bureaucrats have passed legislation designed to reduce the number of minor parties supposedly because minor parties place an undue burden upon the back of the public servants working at the Department of Elections. This legislation (HB245 introduced in 2009 and became law earlier this year) will remove The Constitution Party of Delaware from the ballot this election year and prevent our strong constitutionalist candidates from having a chance to earn the votes of Common Sense Delaware citizens. Thanks to the efforts of Kent Country Chairman Earl Lofland, New Castle Chairman Doug Campbell and I as State Chairman, the Constitution Party issued a legal challenge to the provision in HB245 which doubles the number of party members we must have registered in order to be on the ballot this fall. The Delaware Attorney General’s office advised the Department of Elections and Legislature that they should pass new legislation to delay the imposition of this onerous new requirement until after this year’s election. All but two of our Senators and ALL of our Representatives voted in favor of HB245 and Gov Markell signed this into law earlier this year. These elected officials should have known better than to pass this legislation during an election year. I believe this shows a complete disregard for their oath to protect and defend the Constitutions of Delaware and The United States of America. However, the legislature has corrected this wrong for this election cycle by passing HB 425 which will delay the 100% increase in the number of registered voters our party must have. Governor Markel is expected to sign this into law soon. Frankly, these politicians have done this to cover their backsides. With this reprieve our party has both an opportunity and a challenge. With the attack of minor parties we have lost a number of registered voters. We need to increase our rolls by about 50 voters by the end of July or the first week in August to maintain the previous registration requirements. We still need to double our number of registered voters by the end of the year. I ask for you help in this effort. Will you hit the streets, talk with your friends and neighbors, and do whatever it takes to register 5 or 10 newly registered voter to the Constitution Party of Delaware? We may have to issue another legal challenge as it seems the Department of Elections will not allow currently registered voters to switch to the Constitution Party until after the primary elections are over. Keep in mind, these are primary elections are not available to the Constitution Party or any other minor party. It is illogical to prevent a citizen to switch to or within minor parties during a primary season that doesn’t apply to minor parties. Of course, these efforts are not about logic they are about protecting the power of the political elite. Since the primary elections are not open to us as a minor party we must hold a convention to select between our two passionate and qualified candidates for US House of Representatives, Doug Campbell and Earl Loftland. We are holding our conventions at Bogey’s in Middletown on July 30th from 7 PM to 10PM. If you are a registered Constitution Party of Delaware member please contact me to become a delegate to the convention. All registered delegates in attendance at the convention will vote to decide which Candidate will be on the ballot Nov 2nd. We have decided to allow candidates from other parties who are strong constitutionalist to have the opportunity to compete for the votes of the delegates to earn a place on our party ticket. We have a number of candidates for statewide and county seats looking for a spot on our ticket. Having these “fusion” candidates running on the Constitution Party ticket in addition to their own party will bring great exposure to the Constitution Party of Delaware and help us boost our rolls, which is critically needed by year’s end. To the friends of the Constitution Party of Delaware who are not members of the party we appreciate your support and you are always welcome to join the party. If you are not registered Constitution Party, you are welcome you to attend our convention as a guest. While you are not eligible to be a delegate, this convention proves to be a very interesting with candidates competing for the chance to be on the general election ballot. If we rally together over the month of July, we can insure the Constitution Party survives in Delaware and that we play our part in the 2010 election that is paramount to the survival of our self governed const intuitional republic and the Delaware’s state sovereignty. Contact me on email at pellsherman@verizon.net or at one of the phone numbers below and let me know if you can attend. Hope to see you there, Pell Sherman http://www.WeWantLiberty.com |
