Israel wanted a King.

Using the Bible as a lesson in history is a great way of illustrating our nature to we humans . How we think, why we are still battling the same idiotic troubles we have always battled. It never goes away! We are still made of the same arrogant stuff we have always been made of. We trust humans and they disappoint us every time. We look for saviors in politics and many offer themselves up as our saviors...that is until they are sworn in and then they go on a spending rampage that we ultimately have to pay for. We are a lesson in wanting things that are ultimately bad for us.

Samuel the prophet was judge over the nation of Israel so I must assume that Israel was a Republic. But as Samuel aged and the nation grew, the task became too much for one man so Samuel appointed his sons to be judges over Israel. But his sons were corrupt judges and would take bribes and as the Bible puts it were prone to Lucre and rewarding themselves. So the Nation of Israel wanted a King.

As the Bible describes it, G-d told Samuel to tell the nation what a Monarch would cost them. That a King would take the finest women as his concubines (slaves). And that this King would take the strongest and most valiant men for soldiers for his army. The best things that the nation produced would go to the Monarch of Israel first and the people would get what was left. Samuel told them that they would be paying taxes to the King, and that this King would have the authority to take whatever he wanted any time he wanted. He warned them that this would be a terrible thing and when it was over, Israel still wanted a King.

They argued that they wanted to have someone go before them in battle "like the rest of the nations". They wanted to have a leader to celebrate "like the rest of the nations". They wanted to be just like the rest of the nations. So they got their King. When it was time to appoint Saul to the crown he actually hid from the people who wanted him as king. They didn't want a priest or a judge or a senate or a congress....THEY WANTED A KING!

Israel was supposed to be different. They were supposed to become leaders to the rest of the world and yet they were willing to throw that uniqueness off in exchange for becoming just another nation with a corrupt King that takes all the best for themselves.

Are we any different today? Are we Americans any less siffnecked and stubborn that ancient Israel? If you are a Texan, you want to be a Californian. If you are a Republican, you want to act like a Democrat. If you have a Republic, you want a Democracy. We want to unite with Mexico and Canada in NAFTA! Why? Because Europe did it? Well, where did this idea come from of all these little countries uniting to become an economic force in the world? It came from US The United States of America. Europe copies us because it worked, and now we copy them for some reason. We are the originators of this United Idea.

And as you have heard me say before, we are willing to toss everything that makes us unique aside and become followers, just like rebellious Israel.

Today, we no longer want represented, we want to elect a King to go before us and fight our battles. Many Americans want a king to pay our mortgages and hand us welfare and foodstamps. We want to be taken care of in some entitlement program. The US was to become leaders in the world of industry, politics, religion and wealth.

But we want to be like Europe.

RE: Hubcap
I remember when you got one blade to shave with. Then there was the trac-II then three. And now we are up to five. Can six blades on a razor be far off?

We used to plow the fields with mules and a single plow. One man, one mule and 40 acres and then we started building tractors. Now one man using one machine can plow thousands of acres in a matter of days. One truck, one driver used to be able to haul freight across the country in a matter of a few days, now it takes a week. If we decide to start our own company, the red tape that we will have to cut through will be massive. Most small businesses will fail within the first two years. If the Government can regulate it, it will be "For our own safety" and they will sell it to us on this alone. If you fly, the TSA will be at every terminal waiting those that big brother deems as terrorists! Carry a Constitution or the Bible and you are a target. A Ron Paul sticker on the back window of your 1982 Chevy Pickup is a tale tail sign that you are a member of the Taliban! But if you are wearing a turban, you are alright! We are misguided American who might actually have an opinion that the Government is getting too big for the nations well being. But this is "for our own safety" and we must submit to the benevolent oversight of our loving controllers who twitter photos of our private parts. And when they are found out they resign, keeping their Government pensions they worked so hard on our behalf to earn.

We the new American who must be protected! We the new American who begins to shake and tremble at the first hint of the evil terrorists. As I have said before, the real terror is in Washington DC. These are the enemy of the state, the enemies of the Constitution.

Keep the good, send the bad down the road. And we should cancel any pension for any Government official as this is was never meant to be a career in the first place.

Back to work!

RE: Hubcap
What is it?

For years, I had this notion that I knew everything there was to know about everything there was to know about. And then I graduated from kindergarten.

What is it that causes us to stick to the idea that we can't learn a thing or two? We are like containers that can't hold another ounce of junk! If you consider yourself pro life, then you will fight tooth and nail to elect a candidate that is pro life. And when this candidate is elected we will be off to war to kill people in some far off land. So the pro lifer in us is also a warmonger! Someone explain this to me.

We want strong national security, so we send our troops half way around the globe leaving the nation that is to be secured with its troops day or weeks away form the nation they are supposed to be securing. This is kinda like owning a gun, with the safety on, unloaded with the shells in the other room in the gun vault! But we are pro 2nd amendment! Democrats are supposed to be peaceful folks that consider themselves the most tolerant people in the world. That is when it comes to racial and gay stuff, but when it comes to faith they cannot stand the pro life Christian! So this tolerance is conditional. I love getting into a Theological discussion with a Liberal who chants "All we are saying is give peace a chance." And they truly believe that Allah and Jehovah are one in the same G-d. Yeah right! Any religion will do I guess, but don't give me that faith where you get the freebie...Oh no! "I want the religion where I get to take credit for being a good little boy. I wanna earn my way into Heaven."

Good luck with that. Let me know when you have reached the 32 degree!

Naturally we all believe the official story of 9-11 because we all have this old fashioned idea that our Government wouldn't lie. But let's say that the official story is true and it was the hated Islam that brought those towers down....and building 7...and put a hole in the Pentagon. One President later we are saddled with a man that has a Muslim name and yet claims to be a Christian. And our troops will be over there forever. We start pulling them out of Afghanistan, and the country starts talking about the relief of the war being over and yet, no one is coming home. They are being re deployed.

Then we have the sudden killing of Ben Laden by a team of Navy Seals. They bury him at sea as per Islamic law (I didn't know Muslims were sea faring people) within 24 hours with no record, no interrogation....nothing. Just toss the body in the sea. Later on, members of the Seal Team that killed him die in a helicopter crash. So the Seals die in a crash in the desert, and Ben Laden is buried at sea. Have I entered the Twilight Zone?

Ron Paul is ignored in the 2008 election, and when the election is over and Obama is sworn in, the media all come rushing up to Ron Paul and want to know what the "Elder Statesman" expects to see happen. Funny, a few months earlier he was an old man that was out of touch with the country. Now we are heading up to the 2012 election and the once "Elder Statesman" has once again become the befuddled old man that must be ignored by the media until the election is over and won by a new version of the same theory that America must have a young President who has retained all of his hair. I don't think John Adams retained much of his hair and Ben Franklin looks like the guy on the Quaker Oats package. I guess these two would never have cut it in today's political environment where hair is more important than substance!

Sara Palin was with a basketball star! OMG! The man in the Whitehouse thinks he is a basketball star! HE SHOOTS HOOPS! I guess I am more of a baseball guy myself. And I didn't realize that Palin was running. Maybe as Perry's VP but we shall see.

So the political season is upon us and we are seeing the same tactics as last time. When the election is over, Ron Paul will become this generations Barry Goldwater in the history books and life will or will not go on. We will continue down the same path we are on now but the political talk shows will be quiet for a little while because they will have Perry/Romney/(Obama not)/Palin/Newt/Santa Clause in the White House giving gifts to all the usual suspects, empowering those that will be the death of this country even more. And the Federal Reserve will get a reprieve.

It is a little like the old Communist pattern. "Fight, fight fight. Talk, talk, talk."

RE: Hubcap
People are now trained to vote for people that have certain labels, pro life, pro gun, pro business etc. What happened is that some time ago, the two parties redefined the terms. So now people are voting and do not realize what they are about to get. Then they get mad and vote for the other party. But they are exactly the same so nothing ever changes and the incremental march toward globalism stays on track.

Its a masterful strategy and obviously works very well. We keep hearing about vote the bums out, but when I see the news I keep seeing the same old faces that have been there for years.

RE: Hubcap
Like regurgitation Newt? And many say Ron Paul is too old, too set in his ways.

We have one party that the members are going to do the same exact thing. On other board I hear "Anyone But Obama"! And they are of the opinion they will get something different in Perry? Funny.

RE: Hubcap
A vote for Rick Perry is a vote for Barack Obama! Perry supported HillaryCare, Al Gore and forced injections of Guardasil by executive order to name just a few similarities.

But somehow he is "Conservative".

Sad.

He learned how to be a "conservative" from one of the best... G.W. Bush! With conservatives like that who needs progressives??

RE: Hubcap
The conservative thing is just an act. Even the NAZI's dressed to impress. In reality they are Globalists. They just don't have a swatztika or a hammer and sickle as their insignia. So to a certain extent there's no symbol to rally against which keeps the ignorant masses docile.

As for the Constitution in general, I see you and others here holding staunch opinions of what the definition of it is when right from the get-go it’s been a very interpretative document. The ‘implied powers of Congress’ for instance give legitimacy to just about anything the Congress comes up with including supporting the UN and other things like the Federal Reserve."

My reply:

Shortcomings usually lead to more power and funding. Is that what is required to make the UN work?

Interpretative.....Gotta love it. So if our natural rights can be interpreted by various Government factions, then your rights can be interpreted away, as we are seeing happen right before our eyes. So when can we expect you to turn in your guns and give up your freedom of speech?

The Constitution limits Government. Making the Constitution subjective equals handing the Government more power over our individual rights. Are we a Government By The People or not? Strange. 235 years as a country and somehow the Constitutionalists are now the radicals. Just like the men who penned it were considered radicals.

This is what I love about today's American. No one will choose a hill to die on. They justify the Government nullifying their personal rights as if they are a member of the "Government". Like they are members of the upper end of American society. Surrogate Rockefellers if you will allow it.

Every last one of us are considered expendable to those who are in control of economies around the world. We are the unwashed, uneducated and unprincipled members of American Society that are only useful when there is a frontier to be conquered. We do the settling, the driving out of the savages who once occupied the land that we homesteaded. It may be a gold rush in California, and land grab in Oklahoma if you are a Sooner or a Civil War. But you can bet bankers will follow when the dust settles and the land is safe for those who are not willing to be pioneers. And once the pioneers are up to their necks in debt, the bankers will take what they worked so hard for. Property is the only real wealth and the elite know this. We think wealth is contained in little pieces of paper that waver in value from day to day.

This is why Private Property rights are the cornerstone of real American wealth. Today, corporations are buying up foreclosed properties at an alarming rate and quantitative easing is the new buzz word being sold as the solve all for American debt.

But never mind. Just keep sailing along with the current. Your destination awaits you.

RE: Hubcap
A preacher I listen to, Tom Nelson from Denton Texas asks the question "Who is going to take our place? Where are the men who once stood up to tyrants? When did we become a country of cowards?" And it is so true! I fear passing away and leaving my country, my children and grandchildren to a heartless society that no longer rewards hard work and good morals. I envy my parents who can still cling to an America that doesn't really exist anymore. Men have become peacocks who eye themselves in the mirror as they pass by with all their tattoo's that the cost would have been better spent on a down payment for a home. My instincts are to go find some piece of land in Oklahoma that nobody wants and grow a survival garden. Something to prepare myself for the depression that is coming, and I know it is coming because we can't continue down this path and avoid it!

It is a shame. Those that I once dismissed as "Conspiracy Theorists" are beginning to make a case for their theories. I once considered myself a life long Republican, I don't see the GOP as Conservative enough to make the hard decisions anymore. I see myself getting older and wiser and yet the younger generation sees no benefit in learning from their elders who earned every bruise and scar they wear today. I haven't become an old curmudgeon that has become rigid and stuck in my ways, I am still the youthful dreamer that I was at 18 years old. But I have learned a few things along the way. Without knowing when it happened, I have become an elder.

I see the Original Constitution of the USA as still the best and most modern statement of freedom this earth has ever seen. If we follow it, it will keep Government from taking our wealth: The fruit of our labor. It rewards the hard working American who wants to be self sufficient. But self sufficiency is seen as a threat to Government today, they don't like Americans who think for themselves. So the smartest, hardest working and most ambitious among us are seen as a threat to our government because we are the would be leaders if this country went belly up tomorrow.

I am tired. At the age of 55 I realize now that I have spent my life working to fund a system that benefits others. November 1st was my 36th wedding anniversary. We spent that night in 1975 at a motel in Hobart Oklahoma and I bought Pizza for my beautiful wife and I. I don't know how we made it all these years with the discouragement we have experienced in our lifetime. Today we have our 6th grandbaby on the way, and I am scared for all of them.

Our country has lost its way because we keep electing peacocks, the same peacocks that rule 3rd world countries and award themselves a chest full of metals that were never earned by courage or valor.

I am scared that one day the USA well be a page in human history like Rome.
