RE: I say ron paul runs on constitution party for president
Ron Paul will never run with the CP or any other third party. If he had not run with the GOP, he never would have recieved even half of the attention he did.

I agree with the sentiment that the CP should not bother with a national campaign at this point. The party first needs to focus on the local level where they stand more a shot of winning. I ran for Congress with the CP last year and got far more media recognition (which is needed to win) than Baldwin ever recieved in my state. Now, I believe Chuck Baldwin is far better person and candidate than I ever was. The difference is I had more local connections than Baldwin. More people had heard of me.

I think of all the time, money and effort that went into the Baldwin campaign - all from state parties alredy strapped for cash - and all that for less than 1% of the vote. Wouldn't all that time, effort and cash have been better spent on local races and building up local candidates.

By the way, I will absolutely cast my vote for Ron Paul should he run again - no hesitation or doubt about it!

I think the CP should not run a presidential campaign for now, but it should make sure the platform is that of a national campaign. If the party breaks up into small state parties, it will lose membership and possibly state ballot access.
In other words, it needs to run a cohesive platform across the country, but maybe refrain form having presidential candidates until it has scored more victories on the state level.

The party has to run a presidential ticket or lose credibility as a political party. Having said that, loads of money should not be spent on it because it won't make much difference in the vote totals nor the outcome until the party grows much larger. The races that should be focal points are at the local level. Perhaps a few targeted state legislative races could be found as well. Candidates should be recruited for as many races as possible because it makes the party look more "real" to the voter when they go into the voting booth and who knows... sometimes people win elections because of administrative oversights (like the Green member of the Arkansas House of Representatives).

If you are not going to spend money on a presidential candidate, why bother? It is a waste and it makes our party look foolish and second-rate. The only way something like this works is if you get a Ron Paul or Bob Barr type of guy that can get some media attention. I love Chuck Baldwin, but no one would pay attention to him. He had no contacts and no media connections.

It would be far better to run a national campaign that focuses on local races. Local races have got to be the key in this whole thing.

1st. We need ballot access in all 50 states. We got 4 years to get it done and we have 35/50 states we're 70% there.

2nd. I think a lawsuit on media's political party discrimination is the way to go. Mainly cuz cries of discrimination will provoke the conscience of Americans. If a hispanic or black American or Asian or female or any combination there of runs on the Constitution Party ticket with 50 state ballot access. We literally get the message out to those who are turned off by "white only" candidates.

I am white myself but there is a lot of white guilt out there that got Obama elected. My grand-parents came from Poland and Germany in the early 1900s. So no one in my lineage has ever owned any slaves.

What was really sickening was the same anti-racist people out there had no problems bad-mouthing Chuck with the whole fundie slander.

I agree that ballot access is an absolute must! However, the CP only has automatic ballot status in 20 states as a result of the 2008 election not 35. The task is even more daunting but must be done.

Anyone who goes to the national meeting needs to bring up ballot acces sin all 50 states. Here in nc we are commited but cant do it alone. We need 85,376 signitures by may of 2012. So you can see we have work to do and we are ready to do it! We need funding as renting booths at fairs and any advertisment cost money. I think Ca will be back in the next election. So thats 21 and kansas might affialte so it will be 22. We need to get texas ny and penn at the very least. Virginia we should concentrate on as well.

Agreed but which states need help and which don't ??

I am in Florida where the Constitution Party was within the First 5 choices of 12 that were given.

Two things I would point out... first, servicemembers are not supposed to appear IN UNIFORM at political rallies and certainly not supposed to endorse any candidate. The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) is very clear about that. Second, this guy is a corporal (pay grade E-4) and he has been in the army for 10 years? Let's just say that is not very impressive. As to whether he was cut off... well, let's just say "they report, you decide!" I would assume the neocons over at Fox would have done the same thing. Wink
