One Thing We Should Do Differently

One Thing We Should Do Differently
I think it might have been a good idea to have had the nomination a bit earlier in the year, or at least to have nominated an official stand-in much earlier. We need to start now getting ballot access, and for states that have "reverse deadlines" (i.e. you cannot start before a certain date) we need to have everything up and running as soon as the "reverse deadline" occurs.

I totally agree. We didn't even know about Chuck Baldwin until June.

Good idea. The earlier you start to prepare for the next election, the better things will go for you guys.

Totally agreed with you Michael, for getting ballot access we must have nomination a little bit earlier of the deadlines in the year, this may reduce many efforts.

Another voice of agreement here. In order for us to have any chance we MUST set our nominees in place much earlier. The reason is ballot access and the time and money it takes to get that access takes that time and funding away from our ability to run the simple campaigns.
We must achieve that ballot access earlier so we can have the time to get our message out and raise the funds for the general campaign. As it is now by the time we gain Ballot access there is little time and funding left to run a real campaign before the election.

And we are going to have to use campaign techniques that are unconventional, inexpensive and effective.

RE: One Thing We Should Do Differently
WORD bro WORD!
As the GOP Nominee for my State House seat in 06 I took $3000 ran for a 60+ % Black District seat in a Democratic landslide and pulled 23% of the vote.
I was told that I was a fool and would be lucky to pull 5% by the GOP Establishment. Had I gotten some help and been able to raise 10,000 or so $ against an incumbent who had $300K + I would have won that race!
Have I ever got some tips on how to pull a grass roots campaign off on a shoe string!

It is this idea that it cannot be done any other way but the way both major parties do it. Get outside the box! Take the GOP/DEM playbook and shred it.

I am ready for some good old fashioned rallies. I'm ready to violate some political taboos, like talking to your neighbors and getting back to community again. We don't have to do what Janet Napalitano tells us as we stand in line at Walmart.

RE: One Thing We Should Do Differently
This is a great idea, in theory, but in practicality it won't work.

Before you jump to conclusions regarding my response read on:

In Texas, for example, we cannot - in accordance with State Law - hold our State Convention until a date prescribed by Law. That date is set in June of each year in which there is a General election.

The filing deadline, for any potential candidate seeking a nomination with the Constitution Party, is in December. This is simply State Law and without building the Party and electing candidates who will change the State Law it's the current calender.

In fact, next year, the Constitution Party National Convention will precede (as it usually does) our CP Texas State Convention because of the Law. We will know who our Presidential nominee and running mate are BEFORE we will know who our nominees are in State.

I wholeheartedly agree that we should move up our nominating process so that we have more time for our candidates to get our message out to the public. It would be nice if our National Convention were held in January of each Presidential election year.

But this doesn't do anything for the many States which are prohibited by Law from holding Conventions, and nominating State and local candidates, until later in the calender year.

When I say breaking the rules, I mean getting the word out. I am in an 18 wheeler about 15 hours a day, so since I just don't have a life outside of work, I may as well make work my platform.

I have thought about putting a CP party presentation together, putting it on my Ipod, hard wire a jack into my microphone and go down the interstate playing it on my CB radio on channel 19. Broadcasting the news that things can change...If Americans are willing.

I need to win the lottery....Don't we all?

Rather we should Thank God that such men lived."
