State Sovereignty
State Sovereignty Dear Friends, Family, and Fellow Constitutionalists; In recent months, several states across this nation have “declared their sovereignty.” It appears that as our federal government continues down the path of destruction, folks are beginning to wake up to the reality that we don’t have long as a “republic” and a “free nation.” For those of us who have eyes that can see the truth of our condition, the future looks bleak if we continue down this path. To be quite honest with you, if it wasn’t for my faith, I’d be scared out of my mind with what lies ahead. Constitutional Revival However, it is my belief that we are on the cusp of a Constitutional Revival. Across the nation, “Boston Tea Parties” are being thrown, focusing on April the 15th, Tax Day. States are passing resolutions declaring their sovereignty. There’s the Campaign for Liberty and other organizations that standing up in the face of tyranny. Interestingly, there is a fear of a constitutional revival by those in control. Take Missouri for instance. A report dated February 20, 2009 was distributed by the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) entitled, “The Modern Militia Movement.” In this report, supporters of Chuck Baldwin, Ron Paul and Bob Barr are described as “militia influenced terrorists.” Further, it instructs the Missouri police to be on the lookout for those associated with the “Campaign for Liberty,” as well as those associated with the Constitution and Libertarian parties. Think I’m kidding or don’t have my facts straight? Click here to take you to a link where you can read through the document yourself. A few short years ago, I would have said, “No way!” Not in American. Not in the country that I spent over 22 years defending, with an oath to “support and defend the CONSTITUTION against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” Now, it is apparent that I’m being targeted as a “Right-Wing Extremist?” How is that possible? If these United States of America are going to maintain any semblance of the republic our founding fathers gave us, a constitutional revival better happen NOW!! Important events like the Boston Tea Parties are happening all across the nation. However, if people don’t come to a full understanding of our Constitution and wise up to what’s happening in Washington, this republic will quickly cease to exist (and there are those who would argue that it already no longer exists). The article on state sovereignty Normally, I try to keep my messages short and concise. Originally, this message was going to be a one-page article commending the states that have in some way declared their constitutional sovereignty. Further, I wanted to encourage all the other states to do so as well. However, I’ve been researching and developing this article for several weeks now and found myself getting immersed in the history and details and it didn’t take me long to realize that because of the complexity of the subjects, the issue of state sovereignty could not be summed up in just a couple of sentences. Consequently, this message has been divided into the following four parts: · Part 1 - State Sovereignty – Introduction · Part 2 - State Sovereignty - 16th Amendment · Part 3 - State Sovereignty - 17th Amendment · Part 4 - State Sovereignty - Summary This 4 part series on state sovereignty will be send out over the course of the next 4 days – one part each day. However, if you can’t wait till all parts of the series come out; you can access them by clicking on the following link: http://www.compustuff.org/State-Sovereig...essage.htm It is my hope and prayer that this article will provide the much needed fuel for the fires of a true Constitutional Revival that I believe has begun in this great union of states we call “The United States of America.” Further, I hope that I have whetted your appetite for further study into this vitally important subject as it relates to the continuance of our Republican form of government. I would really like to hear from you. I would welcome any comments, especially if you found the information valuable. Yours in Liberty, Randall C. Stufflebeam Chairman, Constitution Party of Illinois DISCLAIMERS Before actually getting into the message there are a few things that I would like for you to understand and it would probably be good if you read through the following disclaimers: Constitutional Student First of all, I pray that I have remained faithful to the framers’ intent. Under no circumstances do I consider myself to be a constitutional scholar. However, I do consider myself to be a student of the Constitutions, both the state of Illinois and the federal. This has been a tremendous educational and enlightening process for me. Constitutional Understanding This article is not meant to be an end-all in the discussion of state sovereignty. There are many constitutional principles that I will be touching on; a lot of them come from Article 1, Section 8 -- The Enumeration of the Powers (and responsibilities) of Congress. If you want to discover how far adrift from the Constitution we have come, just read through Section 8 with the question, “Is Congress still doing this one?” It won’t take you long to realize that, while we have had presidents not following the Constitution, we have had a Congress that has been violating our Constitution for nearly a hundred years! Constitutional Relevance The more I learn, the more I have come to realize that the Constitution, as originally intended by the framers, is as important and relevant in our day and age as it was in the birthing of our nation. The Constitution is still relevant. There are those who say we need a National Constitutional Convention and that the Constitution is no longer relevant to our day. To that I would say, ‘it is not that the Constitution is no longer relevant, it is that the Constitution is no longer followed.” It is my belief that, if we were to begin adhering to the Constitution, we would quickly find ourselves gaining back the social and economic freedoms from those who have usurped the authority of the Constitution. We just need to once again adhere to that Constitution of the United States as the supreme law of the land. Views Expressed While it is true that I am the chairman of the Constitution Party in Illinois and the Constitution Party’s Midwestern United States Regional Chairman, the views expressed in this article are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of the Constitution Party or its members. For the party’s official stance on the issues, you can go to the party’s website and read through the platform. http://www.WeWantLiberty.com |
