Is the Constitution Party Glenn Beck's "Common Sense" Party?
The Constitution Party of Washington does not officially endorse Glenn Beck or his views. This article is simply intended to point out to anyone who reads it that there is a viable alternative to the current two party system; that the Constitution Party is the only political party which strictly defends and upholds the founding principles of liberty. We believe this to be "Common Sense", that is, the sense that the Common Man has in understanding right from wrong and liberty from tyranny. And if Glenn Beck is on the same page with us, so be it.
Why I Believe the Constitution Party to be the “Common Sense Party” referred to by Glenn Beck
An inquiring mind asked me the other day if I thought the Constitution Party could be the “Common Sense Party” referred to by Glenn Beck. I would answer with a resounding “Yes”! Why do I think this? Because Glenn Beck’s 9 Principles and his recommendation of the book “The 5000 Year Leap” by W. Cleon Skousen, contain the same principles found in the 2008 Constitution Party platform. I hope to show the reader that the Constitution Party is indeed, the only “Common Sense” Party in America today. In his book, Common Sense, Glenn Beck says, “"Perhaps what we need is a reminder. A reminder of who we are, who is really in control, and, most important, a reminder of how we got to a place that bears less and less and less resemblance to the America we remember from our childhoods." The Preface of the 2009 Constitution Party platform provides those reminders: We declare the platform of the Constitution Party to be predicated on the principles of The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution of the United States, and The Bill of Rights According to the original intent of the Founding Fathers, these founding documents are the foundation of our Liberty and the Supreme Law of the Land. The sole purpose of government, as stated in the Declaration of Independence, is to secure our unalienable rights given us by our Creator. When Government grows beyond this scope, it is usurpation, and liberty is compromised. We believe the major issues we face today are best solved by a renewed allegiance to the original intent of these founding documents. Who are we, Mr. Beck? Creations of a Higher Power who has instilled in us certain rights which precede any form of human-conceived government; Who is really in control, Mr. Beck? We the people, as sovereign individuals by virtue of the rights bestowed upon us by our Creator. How did we get here, Mr. Beck? By allowing government to grow beyond its control by our own apathy and lack of participation in the most liberty preserving system ever devised in the history of Man. To continue further, Mr. Beck’s Nine Principles are: 1. America Is Good a.The entire Preamble to the 2008 Platform establishes this goodness (see below); 2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life a. From the Preamble, “The Constitution Party gratefully acknowledges the blessing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as Creator, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe and of these United States. We hereby appeal to Him for mercy, aid, comfort, guidance and the protection of His Providence as we work to restore and preserve these United States.” 3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday a. Character and Moral Conduct Plank excerpt: “Our party leaders and public officials must display exemplary qualities of honesty, integrity, reliability, moral uprightness, fidelity, prudence, temperance, justice, fortitude, self-restraint, courage, kindness, and compassion. If they cannot be trusted in private life, neither can they be trusted in public life.” 4. The family is sacred a. Family Plank excerpt: “The law of our Creator defines marriage as the union between one man and one woman. The marriage covenant is the foundation of the family, and the family is fundamental in the maintenance of a stable, healthy and prosperous social order. No government may legitimately authorize or define marriage or family relations contrary to what God has instituted. We are opposed to amending the U.S. Constitution for the purpose of defining marriage.” 5. If you break the law you pay the penalty a. Crime Plank excerpt: “We favor the right of states and localities to execute criminals convicted of capital crimes and to require restitution for the victims of criminals.” 6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results a. Preamble excerpt, “That each individual is endowed by his Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are the rights to life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness”; although the concept of “no guarantee” is not expressly examined in the Platform, it can be inferred that the liberty to pursue happiness includes both success and failure as potential outcomes of any pursuit. 7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with whom I want to a. Welfare Plank excerpt, “God, who endows us with life, liberty, property, and the right to pursue happiness, also exhorts individuals to care for the needy, the sick, the homeless, the aged, and those who are otherwise unable to care for themselves.” 8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion a. Although the platform does not specifically address the right of Free Speech, the fact that it is ultimately based upon the Bill of Rights implies an agreement with the First Amendment and, therefore, this principle. 9. The government works for me — I do not answer to them, they answer to me. a. Preamble excerpt, “That, therefore, it is essential to bind government with the chains of the Constitution and carefully divide and jealously limit government powers to those assigned by the consent of the governed.” Glenn Beck also recommends the “5000 Year Leap” as a must-read for people seeking to understand the basic twenty-eight principles established in the Constitution by the Founding Fathers, and because his own Nine Principles seem based upon them, and because the Constitution Party seeks to restore the current American government to its constitutional republic roots and has a platform which reflects those same principles, a comparison seems in order. First, a summary of the 28 Principles of the “5000 Year Leap” (Note: parentheses enclose the principle and they are introduced in order from first to last). “The only reliable basis for sound government and just human relations is Natural Law” and since “a free people cannot survive under a republican constitution unless they remain virtuous and morally strong,” “the most promising method of securing a virtuous and morally stable people is to elect virtuous leaders.” Virtuous leaders are grounded in religious principles and “without religion, the government of a free people cannot be maintained.” It is necessary to accept that “all things were created by God, therefore upon Him all mankind are equally dependent, and to Him they are equally responsible,” and that therefore “all men are created equal.” When one has accepted that a free people must be virtuous, and virtuosity comes from God by obedience to religious principles, then one can understand that “the proper role of government is to protect equal rights, not provide equal things.” It then becomes necessary to understand that “men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights” and “to protect man’s rights, God has revealed certain principles of Divine Law”. Foremost among these principles of Divine Law is “the God given right to govern is vested in the sovereign authority of the whole people”, the majority of whom “may alter or abolish a government which has become tyrannical.” After much research and study on the experiences of mankind concerning government forms, the Founding Fathers realized that a republican form was the best with which to govern a free people, and so decided that “the United States of America shall be a republic” with a constitution permanently structured to “protect the people from the human frailties of their rulers.” They recognized that property would need protection from intrusion upon by the government because “life and liberty are secure only so long as the right to property is secure.” Life, liberty, and property are also secure when the economy is stable; therefore, “the highest level of prosperity occurs when there is a free-market economy and a minimum of government regulations.” They felt that the best way to provide stability would be to create a government which “should be separated into three branches-legislative, executive, and judicial” using “a system of checks and balances” which “would be adopted to prevent the abuse of power.” The Founding Fathers also understood that “the unalienable rights of the people are most likely to be preserved if the principles of the government are set forth in a written constitution” for all to read, in which “only limited and carefully defined powers should be delegated to government, all others being retained in the people.” They were aware that “efficiency and dispatch require government to operate according to the will of the majority, but provision must be made to protect the rights of the minority.” They believed that “strong local self-government is the keystone to preserving human freedom,” that “a free people should be governed by law and not by the whims of men.” To insure this strong local self-government, and also to insure that the people would be ruled by laws which they could understand, the Founding Fathers felt that “a free society” could not “survive as a republic without a broad program of general education” because “a free people will not survive unless they stay strong.” International relationships were to be based in “peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations-entangling alliances with none.” “The core unit which determines the strength of any society is the family; therefore, the government should foster and protect its integrity.” Economics being essential to the stability of the family unit, it is necessary to recognize that “the burden of debt is as destructive to freedom as subjugation by conquest” and all laws enacted should reflect a concern for the family and its finances by keeping the government out of debt, as well. Finally, it is to be recognized that “the United States has a manifest destiny to be an example and a blessing to the entire human race,” leading the citizens of the United States to the conclusion that they are their brother’s keeper in the sense that they must live a higher standard and walk a higher path, in order to inspire other nations and peoples to create their own path to an economic prosperity based on freedom and the preservation of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, as established by the Constitution of the United States, in its original intent. There are many planks in the platform which would also support the case that the Constitution Party is Glen Beck’s “Common Sense” Party, but I think the Preface and Preamble are sufficient to show that the principles he recommends are the same principles upon which the platform is based. I’ve footnoted to show which of the 28 Principles apply. The Preface We declare the platform of the Constitution Party to be predicated on the principles of The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution of the United States and The Bill of Rights According to the original intent of the Founding Fathers, these founding documents are the foundation of our Liberty and the Supreme Law of the Land. Preamble The Constitution Party gratefully acknowledges the blessing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as Creator, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe and of these United States. We hereby appeal to Him for mercy, aid, comfort, guidance and the protection of His Providence as we work to restore and preserve these United States. This great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been and are afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here. The goal of the Constitution Party is to restore American jurisprudence to its Biblical foundations and to limit the federal government to its Constitutional boundaries. The Constitution of these United States provides that "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." The Constitution Party supports the original intent of this language. Therefore, the Constitution Party calls on all those who love liberty and value their inherent rights to join with us in the pursuit of these goals and in the restoration of these founding principles. The U.S. Constitution established a Republic rooted in Biblical law, administered by representatives who are constitutionally elected by the citizens. In such a Republic all Life, Liberty and Property are protected because law rules. We affirm the principles of inherent individual rights upon which these United States of America were founded: •That each individual is endowed by his Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are the rights to life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness; •That the freedom to own, use, exchange, control, protect, and freely dispose of property is a natural, necessary and inseparable extension of the individual's unalienable rights; •That the legitimate function of government is to secure these rights through the preservation of domestic tranquility, the maintenance of a strong national defense, and the promotion of equal justice for all; •That history makes clear that left unchecked, it is the nature of government to usurp the liberty of its citizens and eventually become a major violator of the people's rights; and •That, therefore, it is essential to bind government with the chains of the Constitution and carefully divide and jealously limit government powers to those assigned by the consent of the governed. In summary, I believe that it has been shown that all of Glenn Beck’s criteria for a “Common Sense” Party have been met in the Constitution Party. Therefore, I believe that it is only “Common Sense” for those who desire to restore Founding Principles to our government and society at large to band together under the Constitution Party banner. RE: Is the Constitution Party Glenn Beck's "Common Sense" Party?
Glenn Beck is a CIA operative. The Constitution Party is the anti-NWO party but take what Glenn Beck says with a grain of salt.
His M O is to act "conservative" then to use 90% truth and 10% NWO spin. |

Glenn Beck is a CIA operative. The Constitution Party goers must expose Beck for what he is, a political polyp. If he hangs around he'll be cancerous.
The CP should distance themselves from him. |

You would have to show me some valid proof for me to believe that.
The government works for me. I do not answer to them; they answer to me! |

RE: Is the Constitution Party Glenn Beck's "Common Sense" Party?
From now until election day, there's going to be a lot of conservatives campaigning for Republicans. Which seems to be our best chance of getting conservatives into office. But what are we going to do when the Republicans don't deliver what we want? Or do we want enough?

An alternative needs to be ready and the Constitution Party of Washington is currently expanding its organization across the State of Washington, as well as other state parties nationally. The mass of the people also need to be educated on the true history of our nation, the Constitution, and the original intent of the Founding Fathers. To that end, we are providing Institution on the Constitution classes for no charge other than an optional student manual. And we'll welcome any volunteers with much gratitude for whatever they can bring to the table.... Karen Murray |

RE: Is the Constitution Party Glenn Beck's "Common Sense" Party?
Beck's a Repub shill. Not sure what he's trying to do with this 'common sense party' thing, but you can bet there's some secret goal or plan to promote the GOP. That much being said, I do think we are the only common sense party around.

RE: Is the Constitution Party Glenn Beck's "Common Sense" Party?
It certainly seems like Beck could be a NWO shill to get the conservatives to vote Republican when he ends up promoting Republican candidates before the November election. Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin and Sean Hannity will be promoting Republicans too. What realistic alternatives do conservatives have? We should hold Republicans' feet to the fire even if we are not Republicans. And don't be afraid to give Democrats a hard time too.
